The application for UWC by the National Committee of Burkina
Faso is in two parts. The first part is about your application forms. Everything
is done through an e-platform, fluidreview you can find the link and all the informations
on the Burkina Faso’s national committee website. Then in a second part, if you
are selected, you may get an interview with the members of the national committee.
Later, you will be informed or not that you have been recruited. We are in October,
the application process will be open soon and to help you cope with this, here
are 4 tips for you future UWCers:
1.
Do not take yourself at the last
minute!
We are in October, but still there is so much things to
prepare for your application! Between filling out the forms, scanning, writing essays
and uploading these on fluidreview. So much things have to be done. To avoid
running out everywhere, stressing out everyone. Take yourself on time. Be
organized, make to-do lists and aware your parents that you have deadlines, to
have all the documentations on time. Earlier, you send your application. The
less you stress out.
2.
The essays and fluidereview
I agree, fluidreview is not a platform easy to use
and with slow internet connection, nobody is at ease to fill out all the
informations. Especially, for your parents who are not used to all these new
technologies. You have to be very patient! A little advice, before scanning or
filing out the forms, make some drafts and make these reviewed by someone else.
Upload when you are sure you are done. Also, I recommend before writing an
essay, reflect on yourself, on Burkina and World issues that you would like
to resolve or everything that you would like to make a change. Do a Brainstorming.
Think carefully and think about what you want to become in the future. Then, writing
will be more natural and you will be sure not to make too much mistakes.
3.
Be yourself
At UWC there are so much people who are exceptional,
with different backgrounds, points of view and amazing potentialities. What do make
you different of them? Your authenticity and personality. Your experience and extra-curricular
activities outside of school are things that have shaped you. So, show your
potentialities! Do not be shy ... show how you are worthy. It's your
personality that can even boost your application. I recommend also to know you
deeper, reflect on yourself and your ambitions. Do not try to become someone
else or anything. Show the leader in you and be sincere in your application.
Above all, be original!
4.
Rest and keep going!
I know how applying for UWC can be very challenging,
exhausting and stressful. Secret... We have all been in the same situation! I
still remember the sleepless nights I spent working on my application. But, I
will not lie, this adventure is worth all the efforts. However, do not work
until you get a burn-out! Frequently take time for yourself. Remember to work
for good grades in your actual school, because all grades matter. Moreover,
your parents may not understand the movement, maybe consider it as a waste of
time or even do not give you the physical or mental support that you would
need. But, be patience, explain patiently the movement, show them some videos
of former UWC students and ask for help, whether moral or physical. The family
is the only comfort resource you can lean on. Be patient and think that the
adventure is worth all the efforts. Even if you do not get into UWC this year,
you will learn a lot from this application. You will know you deeper, develop
skills and in the future it will benefit you for your university application.
BONUS
Often, during your rest between two or three forms,
try to watch YouTube videos of UWC alumni have made. I let you the links down
below, of the Latifatou Sawadogo’s YouTube channel, second year at UWC Changshu
China. Take pleasure while watching the lips dubs of different UWC schools.
